HIS WORK (AT LEAST AS OF
TODAY) CAN BE CLASSIFIED IN THREE MAIN CATEGORIES:
CATEGORY A includes paintings painted
with conventional materials on various media (such as canvas, paper for
painting, plexiglas, etc). He has used various kinds of painting colors, alone
or in combinations, such as all kinds of oils, acrylic, water colors, inks,
typography colors, angiography colors, color minerals, sprays, etc. and even he
tried some new materials. He has also created certain tools to help him in his
painting replacing the classical painter’s brush. Although a painter usually
has one technique that characterizes his work, he has applied different
techniques in different periods and always tries to discover something new and
artistically interesting, giving in his work an uncommon variety of styles. One
thing that he likes is to include in many of his paintings, together with the
main subject, several other subjects such as strange figures of persons or animals
that are sometimes hidden and you have to turn around the painting by 90 or 180
or 270 degrees in order to discover these figures. Therefore for these
paintings one has to use his imagination to discover all these hidden items and
subjects, and it is left to him to give to the painting the title he prefers
(see Group 3 and 6 where you go from the English Home Page).
CATEGORY B includes simple paintings
that he painted on paper, with emphasis in color combinations, and then he
scanned and entered in the computer and processed by various tools in order to
achieve the desired effects. For this purpose he created his own programs and
computer tools (since he has considerable experience with computers) and tried
to give to this category of paintings, besides the initial artistic bases, also
an impressive decorative quality (see Group 4 and 7). In this category belongs
also the subcategory B1 (see Group 7A), where the paintings are more concrete
and less abstract reminding you of the impressionism, fact however that doesn’t
imply that the artist is trying to imitate anybody.
CATEGORY C contains also paintings
that he painted and entered in the computer, combining these with photos he
took from his garden and other places and objects, or from his large file of
artistic photos he has created during the previous years, thus producing an
harmonious “marriage “ of painting and photography (see Group 8, subcategory
C1). In certain cases in this category, only artistic photos, one or more, are
entered and combined in the computer, where are processed by the computer tools
that the artist has created in order to achieve the optimum combination of
artistic and decorative qualities. (see Group 5 and 9, subcategory C2). In this category belongs also the subcategory
C3, where the artist gives two or more variations of the same basic theme, with
small changes and different combinations of colors in order to satisfy various tastes and preferences (see Group 5Á and 9A).
The fact that categories B
and C also offer an impressive decorative quality, made these paintings
(that have a lower price compared with those of category A) very well accepted
for places like banks, hotels, hospitals, shops, etc. These paintings can be
printed in various media and dimensions such as canvas, plexiglas, hard paper,
PVC, etc. and the chosen printout is accompanied by the CD on which the
painting is stored. Therefore the printout with the CD is unique, and for this
reason original, since no other printout of the same painting will be produced
by the artist. In cases of plexiglas a special frame may be chosen which
includes neon illumination from behind, an effect that makes the painting even
more decorative. Due to the high resolution in the computer (files bigger than
40 Megabytes) the dimensions of the printout can be as big as a plotter can
produce, (e.g. 6 to 10 feet or more) without affecting its quality.
MIXED
MEDIA: In many of the paintings in B and C categories,
the artist continues to work on the painting, after it has been printed (using
oil or acrylic etc), combining the work in the computer with the work done by
hand afterwards, completing and perfecting the painting. In this case,
naturally, there is no CD. However, this does not apply to the
cases where, due to the nature of the painting, it is better the
print to be given on photographic paper, (for better quality of the
print). In this case no additional processing is done by the artist.
